upholstery cleaning

Nobody likes a smelly sofa. Who wants to sit on a comfy chair with dirty black armrests and a big black spot on the headrest? And whoever said they wanted to be the woman at the grocery store with cat hair all over her butt? Unfortunately, it's hard to keep upholstery clean without the right tools. It can be even harder to get your hands on the right upholstery cleaning tool in the first place. Fortunately, Healthy Clean Carpet & Tile Care makes it easy with our 8 step upholstery cleaning process. We clean your furniture, leaving it fresh and ready to use tonight. Ask about our mattress cleaning services too.

We adhere to the industry standard set by the IICRC. Our 8 step upholstery cleaning process transforms dingy, smelly furniture into something you can't wait to curl up on.

From a brand new recliner to your great grandmother's antique chaise lounge, you can trust Healthy Clean Carpet & Tile Care to clean all of your fine fabrics safely and properly.

Before cleaning, we protect the flooring around the furniture we are cleaning and move furniture like coffee tables and end tables out of the way.

Step 1. - Prepare The Area

Then we vacuum. Vacuuming removes more than half of the soil in your upholstered furniture. That is why it is the first and most important step in the upholstery cleaning process.

Step 2. - Vacuum

We use a variety of solutions to pre-condition your upholstery. Most materials are wet cleanable. We use a mixture of ingredients that emulsify both oil based and water soluble soil. To clean natural fibers like cotton and linen we use dry foam shampoo. We use dry solvents to emulsify oil based stains on dry-clean only fabric. Often we use various combinations of all of these methods. In all situations, the pre-conditioning treatment loosens and emulsifies soil for ease of rinsing during the extraction process. Finally, we gently agitate the solution with a horse hair brush to work it into the upholstery and loosen the soil.

Step 3. - Precondition

After allowing the preconditioner to dwell for awhile we agitate the fibers with a soft horsehair brush. This step helps to loosen soils and makes them easier to extract.

Step 4. - Agitate

After the pre-conditioner has had sufficient dwell time, we neutralize and rinse the solutions from the fabric. Healthy Clean Carpet & Tile Care employs the latest advancement in upholstery cleaning technology. Our extraction tool rinses the solution by gliding a bead of water across the surface of the fiber. The controlled stream of water rinses the fiber without soaking it. A neutralizing rinse helps to remove soil as well as lowering the pH of the fabric to prevent browning. The freshly cleaned, fabric will be dry and ready to use the same day.

Step 5. - Rinse Extraction

Once your upholstery is clean we recommend applying fabric protector to help keep it that way. Fabric protector manipulates surface tension on the upholstery fiber. Spills bead on the surface of the fiber allowing a window of opportunity to clean it up thereby preventing stains. It will help to extend the life of your furniture and make future cleaning more effective.

Step 6. - Fabric Protector

Step seven is especially important for velvet and chenille. Upholstery fibers dry in the orientation they were when wet. Grooming the nap stands the fibers up to dry in a uniform direction. It also evenly distributes the fabric protector and works it into the whole fiber.

Step 7. Groom Nap

This is the most important step in preventing damage to fine fabrics. We use powerful fans to speed dry your upholstery preventing browning, wicking and bleeding. It will also allow you to use your furniture right away.
